G36 rallye style mirrors

In 1970 the G36 Rallye style mirrors (or racing mirrors) became available as a mid-year option.  Later mirrors (1971 and up) were supposedly different - only in 1970 the passenger side was different from the driver's side (passenger side was more angled). How much should I expect to pay for a usable pair of these 1970 only mirrors?

is $200 for chromed mirrors a good deal?

If the chrome is really nice I would say yes it's a good deal. Chrome was much less common as body color was the "cool new thing" then. Condition is everything as tearing down the assembly's so they can be re-chromed would be a big hassle.  :2thumbs:

Thanks,
I just learned that A-body mirrors (70-76) should be the same as the 1970 b-body mirrors. I found a pair of them as well - chrome is ok but not perfect - for $150. Maybe I just get the chrome stripped and paint them body color.

The 70 b body is angled more for the wider body and a different shape on the passengers side so it works better.  :scratchchin: It's a one year deal. (If correctness counts)

Thanks, but I was told that the a-body mirrors (at least the 1970s) are indeed identical as the 1970 b-body mirrors - same odd passenger side shape. Only 1971 and later b-bodies had the same type of mirror on DS and PS.

Is this correct?

Here is a pic of the 1970 a-body mirror - you can clearly see that the two mirrors have a different shape:

SCORE! That's the correct set!  :2thumbs: Good find!!!  :yesnod:  (And my understanding is A body is always the same look on both sides with the control cable longer for drivers remote, and only 70 B body had shorter cable and odd shape/angle pass. side.) (With chrome being very rare due to the 1 year.) Your good to go buddy!

That cable is too short for A body, I got my correct B body passenger side as it was mis-identifyed for A body. I was just looking for painted type so I bought it.  Then found out the difference after researching. I could be wrong, A body may be odd/angled for 70 only but what you show will be correct and rare for a 70 Charger that is for sure.  :2thumbs:
