Need Help With Pontiac Wheel ID

I helped someone move a while back & ended up with these wheels that appeared to be in decent shape. I thought my sister's husband might want them for one of his Firebirds, but he can't use them. Not wanting to toss them away, I thought I'd find someone who wanted, or needed them, but not sure what the application might be. I've seen them on several different Pontiacs including mini vans, Firebirds & other smaller cars. After I did a google search, it turns out that there are several sizes around from 14" & up.

The four I have are all 16 inches, but since there are tires on them I'm not sure of the exact width. The tires, although shot, are wide at P245. I'm guessing they are at least a 7 inch minimum, maybe even 8 inches wide.

Does anyone know which Pontiac model & year they were used?   :shruggy:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The style was used on a several Pontiacs in the late 80's to early 90's.

Hmm, I guess I need to see if I can get the actual width off these things & stick them on craigslist with a disclaimer saying, "I don't have a clue what these are from & don't care, but if you do just come get 'em."

I'm pretty sure those were on the mid-late 80's Transam and firebirds.

We had a 91 Sunbird GT and it did have those style wheels but IIRC they were 15 diameter.

I had a firebird with similar looking wheels...but they had more of a dish to them. I think the flatter ones came on sunbirds.

Dont put them up for free on craigslist.  You will have 20 people say they are coming right over and no one will show up.  I put a $20 minimum on anything i want to give away on craigslist.  That way the buyer can stop at the atm, pull out one twenty dollar bill and you dont have to make change.  :Twocents:

And then they are gone that much quicker!  Don't leave the Charger out, that's just going to prolong the visit!

It's funny, offer things for free & it ends with headaches, but if you charge for it, it weeds out the knuckle draggers.  :smilielol:

I spent more time looking on line to see what they are & found "for sale" listings with prices of around $100 each.  :o  I think they were tire & wheel dealers, but it was still a shock. There's no way I am going to ship these things, it isn't worth the trouble, but if someone actually shows up to get them I'll be happy with $20.

Looks like this is the right direction, the Firebird/Trans Am. I Just remembered that I can use ebay for finding pics of this wheel on the different Pontiacs.  :brickwall:

There is a 1987 Trans Am on there with P245's that are also 16 inches & it has the recessed dish like the set I have.

A lot of the others that are on Sunbirds, Fieros & such, are seem to have a dish that's flush with the edge of the rim.

Anyone want these for their Charger?

Scrap'em.

Nah, that means I'd have to pay to have the tires dismounted & disposed of. I'll let the next owner do that.
