Last night I picked up a 1988 bike. I need to get a title for it. Many years ago I did this by mail from some place in vt?
Anyone know where I need to go?  They make sure it's not stolen then issue you a new title.  You actually sell them the bike and they sell it back to you I think?

Hindsight is 20/20 but shouldn't this have been investigated before you bought the bike? ;)

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Rules vary by state but if the vehicle records have been purged from the system it's usually easy to just claim that it's been yours for years (yes, lie) and you simply lost the title...then go through the process to obtain a duplicate title.

In my state this involves having the VIN verified and numerous forms filled out including a "Statement of Facts" wherein you claim ownership.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Nope.  When I picked up the Honda Aero he also had this bike for 150.00 with no title.  I took it because I know it's worth more than that.  I'm thinking I'll get more on the resell with the title.  I'm now thinking about just eBaying it as is.

Yeah in the past I used to buy bikes out of sate and make up a fake in state address.  I hear ya.  Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the help, but I'm gonna take the lazy way out and list it as a parts bike. If I get my 150.00 back I'm good. The Aero was such a steal I don't care what happens with this bike as long as I don't lose money. Who wouldn't pay at least a 150.00 for a Kawasaki 500 rice bike?  I hope it sells for at least 350.00. Making a profit at Christmas time would be great.
