lots of neat stuff in the album. can would someone share the story behind this picture? id always assumed sal tovella ran a single car with various paint schemes and even a different number. i've seen both #8 and #37 on his car(s) . in this photo, the cars are surely tovella's, with different numbers yet (#11 and #24).apparently someone else raced the cars with, or even after, tovella?

tovella ran both #8 and #37, but who drove the #11 and the #24 cars above? tovella was likely in one car, but he couldnt drive them both at the same time (assuming that photo was taken at a race). the cars below look to be two different bodies, judging by the rear wheel area. i wonder if these are the same two cars pictured above as #11 and #24?

The photo is from the 1971 Pocono 500 USAC race.   Sal Tovella is shown with his two Superbirds.    The #24 was a second car he fielded for motorcycle champion Gene Romero.   Gene brought some sponsorship money from Cycle World magazine to run that race.

The #37, #11 and #8  I believe are the same car, just renumbered for the three different seasons, 1970, 1971, 1972.    In USAC the cars were allowed to race all three seasons.
