Over time I seem to have lost track of the purpose for this mounting hole. Can you help me out? It's in the frame rail on both sides above the rear leaf spring shackles.

I just looked at mine and I don't have it.   I'm guessing exhaust hanger also. ???

Hmmm.... good one.

Not exhaust hangers, at least on cars with chrome tips. Those hangers bolted directly to the frame from UNDERNEATH, and thru that funky bracket that bolts to the frame as well.

Did your car originally have chrome tips, Curtis?  :scratchchin:

I doubt it. Is there a code for that?

Was it originally a dual exhaust car?

I doubt it. Not sure. But it's going to be. ;)

I guess the nut on one side was (maybe) used for the hanger on a single exhaust car.....should show it in the FSM

Let me rephrase this -I think the clip is for cars that don't have chrome tips, not necassarily exclusive to CA cars

Yep, that's what I was eluding to in my first post.
The speed nut/J-clips looks like it's for an exhaust hanger for cars without chrome tips, with turned-down style tail pipes or single exhaust.
