The Holidays are comming up fast. What kind of traditions do you and your familys have. Is there a special food you prepare? Do you always watch a particular show, movie, event?

If you have a favorite recipe and are willing to share it, post it up!

Turkey day for us is all about family. We all gather at my Mom and Dads. My Dad trys to cook, My wife and I take over. :icon_smile_big: Lots of recipes I can post up. Mostly we graze around the "Bait pile" (the snacks) Have a few drinks and play 15-2 (cribbage) with the game, football or hockey on.

Christmas is alot of the same only tbs 24 hrs of A christmas story is on. And my guitar comes out.

Pecan pie is always on the menu. Prime Rib is the main course on Christmas!
I may be schizophrenic but at least I have us!

We were supposed to go to my moms in San Diego for Thanksgiving, but my step-grandmother just had a massive stroke. Everybody is taking turns at the icu. So i think we are doing turkey day with Vegasmike and his fiance'.

Now Christmas eve, we have a dungeness crab feast for dinner!!   :yesnod: Kids get to open one small gift christmas eve. I usually have 10-15 types of cookies, so we share with Santa. (carrots for the reindeer of course!) Christmas day is filled with holiday music, movies, big breakfast, presents, snacks, and a big holiday dinner. (Honey Baked Ham, yummm!) Of course the ten thousand phone calls to family and friends that cant be with us. Then, .......sleep! Mrs.skip68

My great-grandfather was a lawyer during the Great Depression (the old one, not now...), and he used to take payment in kind whenever his clients couldn't scrape together enough cash.  One of his old clients was a chef at the Minikahda Club here in Minneapolis, and he was once paid in proprietary recipes.  This recipe stash included one for buttermilk pancakes.

Every Christmas Great Grandpa Elwin would make these pancakes, and it's been a tradition that we carried on since he died.  I'd say we are going on some 70 years at this point.

.... we traditionally try to spend as little time with a certain part of the familiy as possible. Five years = zero time. Going pretty good since the plan was put into place... and the Holidaze are more enjoyable.

In our neck of the woods it will be summer and seafood is in abundance so for us it's prawns (shrimps) on the barbie with fresh salad and a nice cold beer.

Hell yeah.
Maybe some freshly caught crayfish too! (Western Rock Lobster)
Oh and maybe some B52's to wash that rock lobster down.

Sure wish I could have a white Christmas again.
Been more than 30 years since I've done that.
But we'll share the day with flies and mozzies and drink plenty of cold beer and generally have a good time.
Gotta love a '69

It's been 40 years since my last white Christmas and I can truthfully say I don't miss it a bit.  Give me an Aussie Christmas any day.
As for sharing the day...............don't forget the Kookaburras.

Don't have any. Usually went to my mom's on T-day, and we would go to a local place that has all you can eat Thankgiving dinner. But this year, she doesn't want to do anything at all. So guess me and the kids will be staying home eating pizza whatever.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!" :P

My family is scattered from the US East coast to Kyrgyzstan... going westward.

I sure do miss the Thanksgiving gatherings with my step-family in Arkansas.

Not much family in Seattle... usually gather up other "orphan" friends to chow Chinese food and watch movies.

Shoulda married into a big family....

since moving to Florida. My son and me spend thanksgiving morning outside smoking the turkey. This year the family wanted extra leftovers so we are smoking two this year both 20 pounders.

When we vacationed to Florida for Christmas the wife and I started opening presents on Christmas eve and then went to the beach on Christmas day. Now that we live here the kids are turning into Floridians and think its too cold. The wife and I remain damn yankees and think the water is fine.
