Can some here please show me the methods used to align the fenders and grill once they are already on the car? Where the shims go and what bolts move the fenders in and out. I think it's the one up by the window. My gaps need alot of help.  ;) Please post pictures of the process if possible. Thanks and mopar to ya!

Oops I meant to say fenders and hood. Not grill.

tan top

shims go where arrows A & B are pointing to , also the in & out movement of the fender is controlled by nuts  A  & blots E

fit & align doors ,  align  fender with door !!  open a close the door while checking the gap , as it can look ok but it can catch  ((see arrow D  area ))
adjust top of door  to cowel gap your happy with ! , then fit hood  , then fenders -  align the top rear of fenders to be level with the top of door & cowel  &  to cowel gap  , add shims  (A) as necessary , make sure the gap is the same between  top of door to cowel & top of fender to cowel ! then adjust hood so it matches the fender to cowel gap , lot of the time even if a car has never had a wreck , you wont get the gaps the same measuring them , you have to do whats pleasing to the eye ,
then adjust the lower rear fender ! &  add shims B !
also depending how  big you have set your gaps  , when you tighten bolts arrowed C the front corner fender gap  can close up to the front corner of the hood  , adding shims  where green arrows C are will solve this
Feel free to post any relevant picture you think we all might like to see in the threads below!

Thanks a million tantop. Looks like I will need alot of popcorn  :popcrn: to have the energy to do this! Is it easier to do with two people or can I tackle it very slowly by myself? Again I can't thank you enough. The pictures are better than a thousand words but you also described it in detail. This DodgeCharger.com forum rules! Mopar guys are the best just like the cars! :yesnod:

if all the panels are already on the car !! you can if you really had to !  do it  by your self , but if your not use to doing this kind of thing , especially when adjusting the hood to cowel gap ( hoods heavy can slid down & trap fingers &  or damage / dent something !   , best to have a helper !((   also when aligning rear fender  gap to hood , cowel , door !  , its easier having a helper at the front to lift the hood , while your tightening the nuts / bolts etc  ,  as your forever keep having to walk round the front of the car )), its best to stay there & watch whats happening to the gap while hoods being raised & lowered by a helper !!  ,
also you can tape the edges of panels in-case of chipping while doing this !! but i never do as it gives a false impression of the gaps , well to me anyway ! :Twocents:
goes with out saying all this fender stuff should be done with the whole gill Assembly out /off  and the bumper /front valance !  off  the car
yes it can take hours to do !!
also beaware when adjusting the hood forwards /backwards  what ever side the gap is made  narrower or wider to the cowel  , it has the oppsite affect to the front , making it wider to the oppsite front fender /hood corner gap  !
so what stage you at with the charger ??   is it a rebuild ,  aligning the panels to paint ? or ??
if your not sure on anything !!  take pictures & post them up  ,  :yesnod:

I've had the car for around six years. Most everything is done. It was painted around 4 years ago but it was a cheap paint job. They never even adjusted the fenders or doors. I still drive it and it turns heads. I just want to get the lines looking better. I'm not happy with the hood, fenders, and doors not being right to what I expect. Also in the back, the fender extensions don't line up right with the quarters. The car does have two new quarter panels which was done by a body shop. No rust any where but it needs work on the body. Anyone here on the board live in AZ that is good with this type of work? Thanks guys.

Awesome info tantop!   :2thumbs:

When putting the charger away this winter I was looking at how parts of my panels were not lining up very well and was wondering what to do about it.

Thanks.
