What is the best way to strip my roof bare?

Tried sanding, but I going through sandpaper quickly and not getting much done.

Removing glue is always a pita.  You'll spend a fortune on sandpaper so don't even bother until most is gone.

I would try to remove as much as possible with paint and glue stripper and the help of a scraper.  Once you're down to a thin film just degrease the roof and sand to bare metal.

The large 3M stripping discs work the best for removing about everything in my opinion.  I use the 4.5" and 7" sizes.

Adam Mopar, do you mean the 3M bristle discs?   They seem to work very well given the right situation.

I use a liquid product called "Goof Off" and a razor blade (or a putty knife).

They work pretty well too.  I was referring to this type.

I've had pretty good luck with them.   We've stripped a lot of paint and other things off panels with them.

3M also makes an adhesive remover. Works well with glue residue such as after removing stripes, double-sticked tape side moldings, etc.
Soak a rag with the stuff, apply it to the roof, & let it sit there for a while. It should loosen it up quite a bit to make it easier to remove.

Wallmart has a 3M stripper disk/wheel for a drill, it's about 8.00. It's about 4 1/2" x 1 1/2-2" wide in Automotive section. Cheap and effective.  (Auto parts stores sell the same thing for 12.00.)

I used paint stripper, got most of the paint and a little of the glue. Going to sand off the rest.

On a side note, do not buy th nitrile gloves from home depot. The tear and rip VERY easy.

That's what I used plus some "Goo Gone".

try denatured alcohol or 91% regular alcohol on the glue we use it all the time to remove hot glue type glue might work on this as well
