I am upgrading my drum brakes from manual to power. I have bought a new master cylinder and booster from summit.

Here are the links to those items for reference http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAZ-54-73501/ -- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAZ-10-1323/

Now that I have got the manual brake plate off the firewall and have inserted the booster I have noticed that the pedal does not line up with the brake rod the same way. Is there an adapter that someone out there sells for this or does anyone have a pic of one that was custom made.

Thanks

Doug

that is a white foam gasket that goes between fire wall & master cylinder reinforcement plate !! you will prolly still have one  behind yours !!  can buy them from  all rersto places or  make one out of suitable material !!

the bellcrank linkage !!  as far as i know  no sign of it being  repoped anywhere  , will have to source one second hand ,  ebay or a specialist used  mopar parts dealer ! or put a wanted ad on here  or moparts ! or both

you could make one !!  would be a lot easier you could get the dimensions  of one & copy it  :yesnod:

okay i will look into the foam gasket, also i noticed that the booster does not match up exactly with the reinforcement plate, do i need to use the reinforcement plate? or can i bolt right to the firewall? if i need the plate, i think I have to modify it to accept the bolts from the booster by drilling new holes in it. there was something that was not allowing me to mock it up using the old plate from the manual brakes. i was able to mock up the booster without it and thats how i found the linkage issue.

as far as the linkage goes, i think i have sourced one, if it comes through i am going to make a few on my cnc at work. if i dont get my hands on one, i will probably make one from scratch

Thanks again for your insight tan top

no can't bolt it  , straight to the fire wall  , need the re-enforcement plate !!  the  manual brake plate has studds that go through the fire wall & through the pedel bracket  under the dash !!  , but with a power brake back plate there are no studds just holes , &  studds  are now !!   the top two on the back of the booster , if you can locate the correct back plate , so much the better , but easy to modify the original ,  seen a couple of different back plates  for a power booster !! ( the hole where the push rod goes through are differnt  )  one for a bendix  booster prolly & or hemi off set bracket :scratchchin:

sorry Dude !!  i could /would    Doug  !! if i had the the part  ,  not got one i'm afraid  ,( that picture i posted was one off the net))   was looking for one  years back at one point !!  but   decided  to stick with manual drums , till i switch to hydroboost & discs all round !!

if some one has one off the car & and don't mind taking some mesurments / dimentions  ,  would be simpleish to make !!
could even  use   hem/rose joints  see here ((
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Rod-Ends-Heim-Joints-Sleeves.html  !! ))) would be a good idea for the linkage to the brake pedel
