I do plan on being there at Carlisle this year, and I'm actually intending to drive my 500 out to the show. Its only like a 600 mile drive.

As far as the pin stripe goes if it was up to me, I would leave it alone. Now as far as what constitues being a survivor. I believe it is 80% or more origional paint, and 80% or more origional components on the car as well. I haven't seen an engine compartment picture, but if it was up to me, if the engine looks as good as the exterior, i'd leave it it alone too. Now as far as the trunk mat is concerned, that one is probably up to you. But me personally, I'd leave everything on the car. Pitted lug nuts and all.

Hi Jim, welcome to the site. That is one helluva well kept car to have over 103K miles on it. My little Hang Tizzle only has 17K on it, and the engine bay looks nothing like yours. You sure you're being honest? ...Kidding  :icon_smile_wink:

Anyway, I left Mel Major a message a few months back about getting in the survivors tent, but he hasn't called back yet. He's an older guy, so I'm thinking he may go away for the winter to a nice warm place. I'm hoping to get in the tent for Carlisle, so maybe you and I can catch up and Hang 10 for a bit.

Alright, now you've done it..."You sure you're being honest" you say?  When have you ever known a MoPar guy not to be honest?

Seriously, that's why I threw out the question to F8 69 Charger Punk.  I have painted the valve covers, the AC compressor, radiator, a few of the miscelaneous brackets, and a sorry attempt at cadmium plating the wiper motor.  Oh yeh, and I replaced the rusted out battery tray, the water pump, and the starter.  The rest, is original and I guess looks good because of a tremendous amount of cleaning and/or polishing.

As I said in a previous thread, some of the date coded original items I took off when I bought the car is: plug wires, coil, voltage regulator, ECU, balast resistor, hoses and belts, and alternator.

I'd say the engine compartment is problably 90% unrestored when you include the date coded parts I can put back on.
I'd say the exterior is about 98% unrestored sans the non-original tires (I painted the bumper fillers).  Don't forget about that 33 year old Polyglas that became a spare!
I'd say the interior is near 100% original right down to the three cracks in the dash and the 5 watt AM radio.

So there you have it.  I'd really like some feedback on this one.  I do not want to portray this as a survivor if it is not.

Is it or is it not a survivor?

My personal call would be that it qualifies but you should get a hold of that guy and find out about putting it in the tent.  Whether he think it is or not though, you have a fantastic car there Jim.
