I got a 3 spd wiper motor riddle....

My wipers used to come on and run for a few minutes, then slow down and stop.  Upon removing the motor I found that the pivot arm was not fully seated and appeared to be slipping.  So, I chalked it up to that and went about my day.

Now I am in the process of restoring the motor but I need to know if it is possible to test the barrel only.
I have removed the wires from the plug and removed them from the park switch leaving me with a motor and some loose wires poking out.   Can I test it from here?  Because I tried and got nothing.  But I'm not sure how the park switch plays into the circuit.    :shruggy:  I hate to go thru all the trouble of restoring a broken part.

Send the whole mess to Jules "da wiper man" and get a perfectly restored and functioning part back.

I will if I can't can't it figured out, but I have experience with AC motors and I am sure I can do it my self I I knew which wires did what and how the circuit works.  Plus, I want to restore as much as I can myself.  I get the most satisfaction out of taking crappy old parts and making them look brand new-ish.

I test through a switch on my bench powered by a battery charger,  before a harness has ever been put on the motor.  I have a "Y" spliced aligator clip where I connect two of the three ends of the "Y" to the green field wire and the green wire that solders to the switch plate.  On the wires coming from the windings I connect Yellow to green, orange to red, Brown to Brown, from my switch  and then put the black lead (ground) from my switch and clip it to the housing of the motor.  (My switch is powered by my battery charger on the bench).  When I get all three speeds from there I take the third end of the "Y" alligator to one terminal on the switch plate and pull my blue from my switch to the opposite switch plate terminal and that should cause the motor to park. (If I don't have full function there, I don't drop the gear, latch or put the switch plate on it.)   I'll try to shoot a photo of my set up but that is one way to test from...it's not an elaborate set up by any stretch of the imagination, but it does serve it's purpose for me    :icon_smile_wink:

I'm assuming here that you still have the pole shoes, windings, armiture and brush cap on the motor and it's still attached to the housing, you've just desoldered from the switch plate?

So ground goes to housing, and all other wires are positive?
