Does anybody know what type of carpet was in the car?

Nylon, 80/20 loop, plush, etc..

I'm wondering the same thing too  :popcrn:

I think the original "Grandma Gold" carpet that was in my 73SE was cut pile. It was fuzzy on the ends and did not have any loops.

I believe after April or May of 73, it was cut pile.  Otherwise they used 80/20.  Check your build date.

just replaced mine it was cut pile. I ordered 80/20 loop , i like the loop much better

I know GENERICALLY 74s came out all with one piece cut pile... rest are two pieces loop kind ( so your one )

I think loop looks better anyway, and since locally built Chargers got loop all years, I went like locally was. even being 74

HOWEVER theorically, Brougham interiors got plush ( allong with several other interior details )

If you look in your driver's door sill wire chase you may find what I did...a small off white card with the carpet color and manufacturer.  My 73 came with cut pile...but I too will change to loop.  Cut pile is a bitch to clean.

My  :Twocents:, whether the car had cut pile or not, I would go with 80/20 loop. I just think it looks better.
