Hello,
we found my wife's dream car and brought her home a few weeks ago.  It's a 1970 charger with a rebuilt (non-matching numbers) 440 with a rebuilt 727 trans.  needs paint, lights, interior.....a very good winter project!  today was like xmas as the postman brought us the new headers and flowmaster exhaust!!  I have been on this site during our search and purchase and know this is the right place for us to finish the car correctly.   :coolgleamA

thanks in advance for all who help!
once I figure out posting pictures I'll throw a few on the board.

Cheers

Thank you for the warm welcome!!

it took me a second - but no, we're not trying to have a superbird wing!  LOL

shamefully some Jack Wagon threw a rock through the back window a few months before we found the car, so the hunt will be on for a new glass. :brickwall:
our plan is to sand/paint the under carriage and then install the new exhaust!!  :drool5:
we could go on and on but must start viewing the "for Sale" section and all the other posts for info.

we heard the car was a nice maroon with a white butt stripe and the PO threw on the sublime.   it's a good 30 foot car right now and the butt strip and hood were poorly done.   a respray is on the horizon with new proper decals!!  we plan to keep the sublime as we can't think of another car that can get away with it!  :coolgleamA:

cheers

I've never seen a strut-brace for the trunklid like that. Is that factory?  ;)

projectanimal

so what you're saying is a 2x4x 2'-6 is not a stock trunk support???  LOL   ::)

That's another "top of the list" item.  trunk springs....where do I find those gems??

You will fit right in here, I was going to let the 2x4 propping open the trunk go, but you brought it up so it's fair game now.... Oh yea, welcome to the DC forum & nice Charger...

We had to look past the paint and the poorly placed and hand painted (I believe my 7 yr old nephew would have done better) and focus on the fact there is not one hole on the entire car!!   :icon_smile_big:    It's not original and there has been work done, but we didn't have to do that part!   :nana:
I'll be pricing a few local shops for a re-spray this winter so by Spring we can put her together and get on the road!  all the photos I took are too big to post, so I'll work on downsizing the files and then post progress pictures this winter.

Just so it's clear - this is my wife's project, but I'm the mechanic, interior specialist, paint, driver, gas attendant, and detail artist she has allowed to Help work on her "project"...... LOL   :popcrn:

So what's the better way to go, aftermarket sidemarkers and missing trim, or find used at swap meets and recondition????

wish my wife had just a tad interest in the car..
when we discuss the charger, she always correct my use of personal pronoun:
"its not OUR car, its YOUR car"

projectanimal

I had a different Car project last winter (porsche 944 turbo) and I would get the exact same comment..."it's YOUR car, not OUR car" :hah:
Now this is "our" project and her car!   :yesnod:    But we'll see how that changes over time.!  :coolgleamA:
