I keep seeing this commercial referred to as being banned.  Is this truly what happened to this ad or is this another urban legend given life through the internet?

Is that the commercial ? with all the hot girls with bikinis that stop & talk to a guy & girl in a 70 Charger "I think it is" , on the beach some were, his implied girlfriend get upset at Elliot, gets out & the hot girls in the bikinis get in & he drives away... Is it that one your referring to ?  I think I've seen the same thing referred to as "Banned Charger Commercial" , don't know about the urban legend or whether it's true or not..

That is the one I mean, but I woul dlike to see some actual evidence of it being banned other than youtube titles and common opinion.

bull

I've seen lots of sources saying it was banned but none really explaining the decisions as to why/how. But if you Google banned commercials it's usually there, and often accompanied by other ads showing women in various stages of undress or a sexual encounter of some sort.

Chris has the commercial hosted on the '70 Registry site

That's the 1 for sure   :2thumbs:  I personally don't see a problem with the add pretty tame by today's standards, but in 1969-1970 it may have struck a nerve with the Women's Liberation Movement (ala my former step mother, what a be-ach) or something they just pulled it to avoid any conflict maybe, I'm not sure about the banned deal....

Just looking at a '70 500 makes people go crazy! No wonder it was banned! :icon_smile_big:

I think people add "banned" to you tube videos to make people "think" it's racy and there-by generate more hits. The only "banned" commercials out there that I think are legit are European beer commericals that can't make the cut here in the U.S.
