Hey Guys,

Asking a favor....is anyone near there that can check out a car for me? Its not a Mopar..actually a BMW E30 its a bit of a drive for me but if the car isnt junk than im going to buy it, but it would be nice if someone could look at it before i take a 3 hour ride from Brooklyn, because if im going to drive that far im going to have it insured and ready to drive it back home. The guy says it needs some TLC and some brakes but otherwise it runs/drives just fine and just has minimal rust issues.

I will of course reimburse any expenses.

Shoot me a ring 917 648 6374

Thanks again!

You do realise how expensive parts can be for BM's right?
I've had several repeat customers who've bought them for the 'prestige' factor, only to find they've changed back to GM or Ford vehicles due to the expenses they've encountered with their BMW.
And particularly if it needs a bit of work, I'd be thinking TLC=$$$
Gotta love a '69

If its only 3 hours away then just take a Saturday drive up there with the GF and drive it him if you buy it.   :shruggy:

Looks like I will be doing that lol..just don't want to drive there for nothing as I need to get back home early to get to work that night (work weekends).

Doc,

In terms of prestige, its a mid 80s car, parts are relatively inexpensive. Id never buy a new german car.

We have sold several BMW 's  here on the used car lot  .  I wont buy or sell them anymore . They have so many lights and and bells and dinged they just go crazy in those things . They are junk and crazy expensive to fix .  They fight you every step of the way to .  They are nightmares and customers drive you crazy to fix them because all those dingers keep going off  .    I recommend you stay the hell away from it .

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

an E30 bmw probably doesnt have even electric windows or seats. at least ones I had didnt have. nothing expensive about them, nimble, small car that rusts easy. fun to drive...put an LS2 or something in it and it smokes anything out there.

too bad over here you cant legally put even an M3 engine in one...

Exactaly, small, light weight, fun car. This one has minimal rust so i should be OK there. Has 185k (which on these motors is nothing) and surprisingly the tach, speedo..etc still work (noticed they tend to crap out).

I was thinking about what v8 might be able to fit, something way down the line i can figure out, until than ill just enjoy it.

if you can fabricate stuff, its not that difficult to put any engine is there, there is quite a lot of room. dont put anything very heavy there, it wont drive well anymore but late aluminum v8 engines are a good choice.
