Does anyone know where a person could find Dealer Codes?  I have a Charger with a Dealer Code that appears to be:  92852 or 92552, or perhaps 92352.  I can't make out the third number, which is why I have three possible numbers.   It seems the Charger was sold in Region 16 which is the Philadelphia area.   Anyone have an answer?  I would like to have a window sticker made up for the car, and really need the name and address of the original dealership to complete.

Will the broadcast sheet give any help in tracking what dealer a car went to? ie: using the order number to one that is very close that has dealer info? I have a good broadcast sheet and nothing else. Sorry, not trying to hi jack the thread.

Call ECS - He does proper, correct window stickers and has all the codes.

no not  broadcast sheet  ,
maybe if all  chrysler records  from 68 & later did not catch fire & supposedly  burned to the ground ,    might of been able to trace the order number to see who ordered it ??  customers name  ?  or  might of been a sales bank car  etc  ,  whats in your Y box top right of the broadcast sheet ?

all the above is just my guess , ideas !!  lot of the guys on here know more about this than i do !! about order numbers  ,  :popcrn:

Thanks, but I don't see a Y box in the top right - maybe I am missing something. Not much of a BS, but its all I found in the car.

It would be an unusual event for a Broadcast Sheet alone to yield information about which dealership ordered the car - if it was special-ordered by a dealership to begin with.  I suppose it's hypothetically possible that a Sales Order number (a/k/a S.O. or Vehicle Order number) could be used to identify a car as having originated via a particular dealership.  From what I've been told, the dealerships were given pre-numbered sales order forms for each model by the regional sales rep.  The numbers from those forms would serve as the Sales- or Vehicle-Order number, unless the SO number was reassigned for special handling (e.g. Daytonas, A12's, sunroofs, etc.).  If that is true, then theoretically a Sales Order number that was sandwiched tightly between two SO's from a known dealership most likely came from that known dealership's pre-numbered SO forms.  The chances of having information like that from just the right timeframe and just the right dealership are rather remote, but it's hypothetically possible.

What tantop could have been referring to with the question about "Y" codes was Chrysler's Sales Bank cars.  From '69 and for at least a few years afterwards, a Y16 sales code would indicate the car was spec'd by Chrysler and then shoved out to one of their dealerships without really asking if it was OK.  The dealership got whatever was sent, with no input on options or packages.  In that instance the SO code would be absolutely useless, since it had no connection to any dealership.  1968 broadcast sheets won't have any "Y" codes, since they used a totally different nomenclature/system.  I'm not much help on deciphering '68 codes or what would have indicated a Sales Bank car that year.   I also don't mean to be speaking for tantop - if he was referring to something else, please accept my apologies...

Maybe - But only people like the guru (and maybe Barry W. for E-Bodies) would have that much a database to be able to take a guess at it....And - It would be a guess.

Alaskan_TA

I do not guess. If I knew, I'd say so. ;-)

I have no clue what this number (any of the three mentioned) is for, but the ones that start with a 9 usually have a corporate connection.

See page 9 at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/vintageDealerships.shtml for some examples.

That said, I am not a fan of 'made up' window stickers.

gtx6970

A buddy of mine has a nationwide dealers list from the early / mid- eighties

I'll ask him if any of these codes are on it

Alaskan_TA

One of the moparts members had one too, older than that if I remember right? I think his user name may be hemi_joel or something like that?
