I can't believe it's been that long. I was in Alaska at the time I heard and blew my whole trip to shreds. His guitar work still blows my mind every time I see it. Melding of man and guitar into one.

:iagree: One of the greats no doubt. I've always liked his guitar work better than Hendrix's...

Wow... It's really was that long ago wasn't it :scratchchin:

Stevie would never agree with the comment about him being better than Hendrix. They both played straight from the heart, but they each followed their own path. Jimi Hendrix was Jimi Hendrix, and their will never be another Jimi Hendrix. Stevie Ray Vaughan was Stevie Ray Vaughan and there will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I was fortunate enough to see him just once. Long before they were famous, Stevie and the boys played out at the Rose Arts Festival just down the road from my house. A small gathering on the green, maybe 100 people... Small stage set up on a flatbed trailer in front of several rows of chairs.
Stevie struck the first note, and that was it... People immediately jumped up on their seats desperately trying to get a glimpse of what was happening out there in front of them... who were these guys!!! It was to late of course; the crowd had already mobbed the stage, and you couldn't see a darn thing past the first row of chairs. I'll never forget that day...
