Wow that was cool.  Can you imagine how much engineering went into making that factory?  Everyone of those machines must have thousands of hours of someones time into designing each one.

Post of the year. That was incredible.

Can you imagine your job is to stand there and put one bolt in the frame (as was shown)? What happens if you gotta take a piss?

It's funny - whenever people obsess about this detail or that detail, you always have to remember that it was just some guys job to get done as fast a possible and he probably didn't really care. As long as his boss wasn't all over him, it was ok.

I was watching closely when the two guys were stamping out fenders and there were 4 buttons to activate the press.  Both guys had to push the buttons down with both hands so they didn't get their hand chopped off in the press.   So, safety was a concern right from the beginning!

industrial poetry.      This industrial base saved our ass in ww2

do todays leaders help our competitiveness ? with a tax code that gives incentives to keep profits overseas.

s+p 500 companies are just sitting on nearly two trillion in cash !  with little new investment stateside.

A regresive social security tax only on   $104,000  ,  make a million as ceo , ten million in options , expence account ,  tax only the first 104, 000

this raises the taxes for the rest of us, a tax on work.

Thats right,The elitists over tax the working man and then belittle the very work he does.

corruption  and breaks for politically connected are killing the USA

I oppoligise for my rant , but this pisses me off

Maybe if the govt wouldnt spend more than they take in they wouldnt have to find a cop out like taxing the rich.

Really cool, working in a truck assembly plant it makes you think of how things were done, then & now. Poor guy putting the tires on had a back breaking job, now a days, comes down a rollerized plat form that drops down so they can get the wheel on, no lifting at all. Safety & ergonomics are a big deal anymore. If some of these whiners had work like are forfathers, they would not last 5 min., we really do stand on their shoulders, & are country was built by them.

That's cool, but how mundane that kind of job would be? Doing the same thing over and over and over again for 8-12 hrs. a day! I remember reading in a car book or magazine, the author of the article worked at a Ford plant in the 60's, his job was installing a fender, him and another guy hung the front fenders on a car (one guy on each side), he said they could hang, align/shim, bolt on a fender in less than two minutes. Could you imagine that for a whole shift???? In an 8 hour shift that would be like 240 fenders!!!!!!! 2 guys 3 shifts a day that's 1440 fenders installed a day.....by man!!!
