Damn! Frame-off! Almost at least. Anyone else notice the driveshaft just laying at the bottom right of the first picture? Always is a tragedy, but sounds like the driver was dicking around and trying to burnout/ turn onto the highway and couldn't properly control his machine.  :shruggy:

Kern Dog

Sad that someone died.
That car looks as if all the body to frame bolts were not put back in after the restoration. They are pretty stout and it would be pretty difficult to shear/break them off. The shrapnel field looks small enough that the car couldn't have been going too fast. Its in poor taste as this point to write, but that cars condition is testament of the better crash-worthiness of our UNIbody classics.

It was a tragedy....

But something just dont seem right with the body off the frame? I agree maybe inferior frame bolts??

:iagree:  Looks like somebody messed up during the resto.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Old Tired Rebel

It is always sad to read about someone getting killed in a accident like that.

This is a correction at the bottom that says he is actually alive but in critical condition.  Note that in contrast, the Malibu crumpled to the firewall, as intended but the cabin looks intact.  Just in case anyone thinks that their big heavy old classic will protect them vs. a new car!

Right, but that is the driver. The passenger died.  :rotz:

By the way, did anyone notice that the story is from 2007?

And a better photo of the "skinned" driver side  :o
