I hope that this type of stupidity doesn't encourage the manufacturers to match step.  Anything more than 17's up north on a car and you are risking your wallet and your life driving it in the winter.  We had a SAAB that had over a dozen flats and or bent wheels the four years we owned it.  Ended up being a recall, but we were over the mileage limit.  Rims were junk, but the size was a factor too.
