aftermarket radio install

I bought a aftermarket radio and would like to install it into my 74 charger - how's anybody install the radio under the dash and how do you do it??  an pictures??  thanks

There is a place called Crutchfield that's been around for a long time. They sell a molded plastic unit to mount under the dash so you can install an after market stereo in it. I don't have one to say how well it works, but for $24.99 I'd give it a shot since they are reputable.

I used to have one of those in my 74 and it worked good. But I do recommend a cd player with a remote as mine was almost impossible to reach while driving.

As far as Crutchfield, I'll vouch for them in a heartbeat, been a customer for years.  Their prices aren't the best, but their sales people and customer service is top-notch and everything they sell usually comes with their own in-house written installation instructions.  Sometimes I'll call them up just to learn about a product or to help me decide between two items but if their price is too high and they typically can't price-match with the likes of Amazon. They're great.

I agree with Dan.  I bought a SecretAudio unit because I don't feel like cobbling up my dash.  Chrysler did a lot of things right but I don't know what kind of drugs they were on when they made radios with both knobs on one side.

i liked mine for a long time but now i went more stealth with modern internals in the stock case in the dash

I used the under dash one from Crutchfield. Had to do a little trimming around the sides and corners to get it to fit just right. Plastic trims easily with a knife. Made a support bracket to hold up the back of it so it does not bounce around. I think it is very functional.
