Has anyone had any success painting old chrome valve covers with a color, orange, blue etc? Any tips on the best primer to use, or would they need to be de-chromed first ? Thanks

best plan is to take the chrome off !!  get them blasted or wire wheel them :Twocents:

A plating shop can strip them to bare metal also.

i had original chrome ones but were rusty, quick sandblast worked well
I don't care what is is designed to do,I want to know what it can do.

i sandblasted an old chrome air cleaner and painted it. seems to be working good for me. im guessing you can probably use sandpaper and make it happen also.
