trunk pan replacement question

im hoping to finish up my trunk pan this fri/sat. i have a question about what to do with this square piece i crudly drew an orange line around. do i pry it up and dig the remaining piece of trunk pan fron underneith it? or do i cut it flush and put the new pan around the outside of it? any advise whould be a great help, thanks mike

When I did mine I cut the old trunk flush to it and cut the new pan around it......not saying it's right though :D

They repop those. I always replace them or remove and reinstall after floor is In.

I cut mine out, put the pan in and am getting ready to weld them back in. Seems like the best approach.
Plans are useless; planning is indispensible.
Especially with an old car!

Cut mine out and had to make new one my self $10.00 worth of metal and some work ! :Twocents:

Remove the bumper supports and the trunk latch support too...
They can be reused.

Yup, I removed and reinstalled these brackets after new trunk pan installed.  That's the best way IMHO.
