I have been shopping for a new Radiator I have a 383 BB I notice when I pulled the motor I had a Radiator for a 318 (my charger was a 318 car to begin with). Does it really matter if I go back with the stock radiator or do I need to get a bigger one? I am not really doing anything crazy to the motor.

The inlet/outlet pipes are not configured the same on small block radiators vs. big block radiators. Also, the 2-row radiators are notorious for inadequate cooling so if you're keeping the 383 I would buy a new 3- 4-row radiator. If you don't care about originality I would get an aftermarket aluminum unit off ebay for $150-$300.

More rows of radiators is always better.

I was told that the original stock radiator in my dart was redone from 2 core to 3 cores, is that the same thing?

Then add the electrectric fan I dont think my little 318 could ever overheat....  :coolgleamA:

When I had my rad recored, I had it redone with a high effeciency core.  Basically it is the same amount of rows but the tubes are closer together giving it the equivalent of what it would be cooling if it had 3 rows instead of 2.

how wide are the tubes (each tube) that hold water

I am convinced that 2 rows is better.
More surface cooling

3/8 centers I believe, with 1" tubes.
