Was the locking part added? If so, is there a source to add a locking cap, today?

Thanks,

Any issues when using with the orig-non-locking flip lid? Reason I ask, I thought I saw an NOS assy. w/out the center spring/gasket  :popcrn:

The same flip top works fine with or without the lock......There are a bunch on eBay right now in the 150 range.

That is interesting. I have heard about the locking gas cap, but all along I thought that they were referring to how the cap fastened. Thanks for posting this.

I have a J46 car and the lid is the same as everyone elses. That seal is still required as the insert does not actually seal it closed. It just ibstructs the tube.

Yep, same here.
Mine was with my car in the glovebox when I bought it, but there was no key so I had a locksmith make some.

The qaulity is great. The only problem with it is the hokey keys.

Anybody buy the Layson's cap and then have a locksmith make a "better" set of keys?  :popcrn:

A383Wing

the Layson's keys are wrong...the keys pictured above are cut on both sides...the OE keys are cut & notched only on one side....like the ignition & door keys for the car.

My bet is Laysons locks & keys are cheap China crap

Just 6T9 CHGR

My NOS keys say "GAS" on it as well....
