Just curious, ive been debating about going with a removable wheel and a flaming river column   :2thumbs:

I always wanted a removable wheel in my Lincoln when I was married, so I could take the wheel off and hand it to my wife when she tried telling me how to drive.

I had a removable wheel on my F150. Was a pretty neat feature at times but you surely wouldn't want to lose it or misplace it. Try explaining that one to the AAA

I have the flaming river tilt column in my 68. Its a nice setup.

I thought there was too much flex with torsion bars to go with a solid system like that!
I read that in one of the mags somewhere!
Just throwing it out there!

What??? Until around '74, all steering connections were (relatively) solid. It wasn't until around then that the rag joint was added. Not sure what the t-bars have to do with that though.

I can see why, k frame was isolated with rubber mounts in 73-4...I'm changing to soild k frame mounts.

How did the Flaming River install go? I was going to order one for my Charger.

Finn

Pretty easy, I took apart my old column and used it as a sleeve to hold the flaming fiver on so I didn't have to fabricate a bracket.

How do you know which one to order? I'd love to put a tilt column in my '71, but I don't know which length would be right or even what the length on their website represent. Is it the distance from the firewall to the steering wheel or the length of the steering shaft, or...?
