Is there anything else I need to put in the engine bay before I put in the engine? (besides the steering column).
Just don't want to jump the gun! Also when I drop the engine in, should I lay the headers in as I'm dropping the engine down? What's the best way to get them in?

I have seen all this. But until today, I have never seen such a pain in the ars car like this 68 Charger!

Are you putting the engine in attached to the tranny?

I would get the engine in with the tranny attached and get motor mounts all lined up then lift the engine up just enought to slide the headers in.

I was planning on putting the engine in 1st, then the trans. I don't want to scratch the new paint!

wiring harnesses all in? the plumbing in? horns etc,  I heard the best/easy way to get everything in as one is installing the engine from under the car headers and all
