Is it common on your cars that from 0-30, the speedometer wobbles and you can't tell what the correct speed is?  Mine seems to be wobbling like crazy at those speeds, which is why I am asking.  It may not be a huge deal, but it'd be helpful to tell how fast I'm going at low speeds.

At first, I thought it was my transmission that was causing the problem, but I just got it rebuilt this past week and it still does it.  It's also a new cable since when I bought the car, the old cable got chewed up (found what caused it and corrected it thou).  I lubricated the new one, but I think I'm going to have to pull it out and re-lub it.   A friend of mine says it might just be the head on the instrument panel that needs to be lubricated, any truth to this?

did your speedo act this way before you rebuilt your tranny?

Yes, I'm sorry I meant to mention that in the above post - It did do the same thing.

then your speedo needs repaired.  there is not enough lube in the world to get it to stop bouncing :D  there are some shops that rebuild them. I know year one does.

sometimes cleaning & lubing the speedo head / guage will help, it can`t hurt to try

I'll give it a try first, hopefully it won't have to come to a rebuild.  Just one more question, what type of Lubrication should I use for the back of the speedometer head?  The same kind for the wire?

lithium will be light enough but will stay in place
