Food for thought.

I know a few people who cannot back up a car to save their life. Two of my wife's friends are the worst, & they actually will not park in certain places or go to certain stores because they know they will have to put the vehicle in reverse at some point. One of them has the sensors in the rear bumper & they rely 100% on them so they don't have to turn around to look behind them.  ::)

If any of the people who park on the street are afraid to put their car in reverse, they might not be using the driveway for this very reason.

(Yeah, it sounds friggen' stupid, but like I said in an earlier post, there are stupid people driving.)

There's a woman at work with a Prius (her second one) who absolutely cannot figure out how people back up without  a camera. She's nearly 60 (oops! did I let that slip?) so she's surely had to back up at some point in her life without one (but now it's an ordeal). She also hates it when she drives a car that she actually has to put a key in because that's "just so complicated". Our office had to supply her with a "fob" that disables the alarm because she can't manage to work the keypad...

Another guy at work bought a new Acura and its back up camera even puts lines over the view so you can see where you're going to end up as you saw on the wheel.

I have to admit, I rarely will say something to a neighbor - unless it's a big deal. However, at my garage I constantly have people blocking me so I've been pointing it out every single time (if not I think I'd end up moving the cars with my truck and a tow strap but my stuff is worth more than theirs). The house in front only has two spots but three cars so whenever anyone visits they just park right in the middle of the drive going past the house (which happens to be the path to my garage). The other neighbors on each side have small children so I hate to sit there laying on the horn until someone moves. Most of the time someone will answer the door if I knock - and then act all embarrassed. Even more frustrating is that the landlord will do it too! The reason this sucks is because the drive is on a four lane, heavily trafficked road so if I swing in with a trailer I can't get all the way in and I'm blocking traffic. Sometimes they'll park on one side in the widest part of the driveway which will let me get by in the cars but not with the trailer. Recently, someone (haven't figured out who) has decided that parking *in front of my garage doors* is a brilliant idea. They kind of angle in so I could probably get in and out with a car if I tried hard enough - but there's no way I can swing the corner with my trailer. For a while I just started blocking the entire path past the house but felt like it was being rude (people would have to back out into the four lane road if they can't turn around behind my garage). Again, I don't want the kids injured for something mostly petty. I can see that if I'm not there someone may assume that the driveway doesn't need cleared but one night I worked late and I got blocked in! The teenager (I knew whose car it was) either fell asleep or was playing video games and I eventually had to drive down the dirt road that belongs to the railroad.

So, whether you say something or not, people (without respect) will do whatever is convenient for them. This is what our society has become!

it just amazes me how many people are just so sure there neighbors are just ass holes. just grow some balls and TALK TO THEM. no where have you tried to talk to them. your so sure there smart asses. why because they dont own the house. my god its a parked car. you didnot go anywhere. you were not blocked in and she moved it. so what harm was done. have they changed your life in any way. boy your life must just suck if something like this sets you off. maybe they should not talk to you. your the one with a mental problem. and this call a cop shit. leave the police to do police work. maybe someone who really needs a cop would have to wait because of a stupid worthless nothing happened crime. your the one with the problem with your neighbor. they dont seem to have a problem with you. and you said the girl moved it and said she was sorry. what else should she do. boy i would hate to think what would happened if a dog took a shit on your yard. it would be world war. had a neighbor like you. we all had long hair and played in a heavy metal band and rented a house. gave the neighbors are phone number and said if theres a problem just let us know. but no he was sure we were assholes and just called the police. then when he needed are help once we just laughed and watched his hotrod get striped by some guys. oppps we forgot to tell him we saw everything.  so you might want to get along with your neighbor.

1. I never said my neighbors were "assholes."
2. Talk to them about what?  I already said that while it's annoying for them to park in front of my home, I can live with them parking in front of my home as long as they don't block my driveway.  If they block my driveway again I will certainly talk to them in a not so friendly manner.
3. I would like to think that having respect and courtesy for your neighbors is not a mental problem.  Unfortunately, I do have respect and courtesy for my neighbors so I guess I am mentally ill.
4. Of course they don't have a problem with me.  I don't block their driveway and I make sure that if I ever do have guests over that they park as close to my house as possible.  I also don't let my dog go crap in their yard, but according to you those really aren't big issues so maybe I should do go ahead and do those things.
5. What else should she do?  Maybe use a little common sense and not block driveways?  I dunno.  Stuff like that.
6. So you give your neighbor your phone number in case there is a problem, he calls the police because he was sure you were assholes, and then you watch his hot rod get stripped and not do a thing about it?  You sound like the ideal neighbor.  I couldn't hold a candle to you.

I live in a small, dead end street it's narrow for a normal sized car let alone a Charger sometimes People park on both sides which is not illegal but it's where they park  :brickwall: parking opposite each other when all they need to do is park a little further down the road for common courtesy for others.
Quite a few times I haven't been able to take the Charger out because of the Car's parked side by side (even when they don't have to) what if a Firetruck needs to get through? other times there's barely enough room to get my daily driver through (if someones having a party or whatever) my daily Driver is a old Shitter, so I figure if I side swipe them it's there fault F..k em...

Just go park in his driveway.  In such a way that you can't be blocked in.  Or if you are you would be able to drive forward onto their yard if need be.

My neighbor rents her house out now.  They pay 2,200.00 a month and park one of their cars in the street.  I hate it, and don't understand it  :shruggy:  I truly feel your frustration.  We have 1 1/2 acres each and long driveways, why they park on the street, is odd.

DAMN!!

I WISH I had your problem!!

Trade ya apartment living with the "try to find parking game" on the weekend for your 1.5 acres.

...and how did I know #3 car was a chick before you mentioned it??
Been there done that.  I'll swap, but you have to take my huge mortgage. :icon_smile_big:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

This sounds like fun.   Maybe you can buy an old $50 clunker & just leave it in their driveway.

I was talking to my boss at work about this thread. He said he once had a neighbor that used to park in front of his house and cut through his yard to their house. He said he started parking in front of their house and doing the same thing. He said it took about a week before they started parking in front of their own house. :smilielol:

You know, some people are just jerks and will push until they find your limit.  That's the way it is with most of the people I work with!  Asking nicely doesn't always get results either, you have to inconvienence them.  Sad way about doing things.

BUT that reminds me of a story.  My neighbours firing off golf balls next door, I expressed my concern and they acknowledged it, but it stay made me nervous, so knowing that the 3rd neighbour in behind us has horses and blah blah blah, I picked up some old golf balls and tossed them into the third guys yard.  He took care of the golfing for me!

I was also worried about coming across too strong, and the second and third guys already had a past.
