Talking to the guy about that '74 Satellite and he says that if I buy the car it will come with a 383 out of a '69 Charger although the engine is all in pieces although the block is supposed to be in good shape (no cracks or fractures) and never bored. Now I wouldn't really be interested in rebuilding the 383 and if I bought the car (which Im sort of leaning away from) I'd most likely just sell the engine. So what would a 383 block like that be worth?

I would venture a guess of $2500-$3000 potentially   :shruggy:

is that price your qouting for a rebuilt motor or just a complete non rebuilt engine   i got a 68 hp 383  with 38000 miles out of a rr  for a case of beer back in the 70s   so your telling me its worth 2000

around here a disassembled 383 would be lucky to sell for a couple hundred, if you find the car it goes in then may be worth considerably more to the owner of the car.

Have a guy local here in AZ been trying to sell a 69 383 for several months now. Only asking $300

I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Back N Black

if it complete from carb to pan, i would say $500.

Shoot, I have one from a 68 (rebuilt) and the original for the 69...mayhap I should sell the 68 and 69, rebuild and drop in the spare 440 I got laying around.............. :D

Troy

I'd guess $200-300. Perhaps more if you have everything - exhaust manifolds, carb, air cleaner, etc.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
