Styling and the 1970 Coronet

Is the "bee wing" theme on the 70 Coronet models too much or do you like it?  I've gone back and forth on these cars over the years and there have been periods where I really liked it and times when I thought it was not a very good looking car.  Currently I'm thinking the styling fits the car well and adds to the overall package but it makes me wonder if in 30 or 40 years opinion will soften on the four door Charger and the gasping catfish grilles or will they be eternally ugly like a Citroen.

I really like the body design ,front end included on the 70 b-body. It was edgey at the time probably,but I like them.

Next to the 2nd gen Charger, the '70 Coronet/Super Bee is perhaps my next favorite Mopar. I love the aggressive nose on that car, and like the tail treatment better on the Super Bee vs Coronet R/T.

Along with the 72 RR. I love the front end look. Both have very creative bumper design.

dunno why, but average, I don't like any Plymouth rear clip, with 70/71 Cudas exception

Best line I ever heard when driving my '70 SuperBee - I was following a friend.  When we got to our destination, he said he didn't like when I was behind him because in his mirror the Bee looked pissed off!

  Love 68 and 69. Then came the 70. The 70 is styled like a Bee-STING, two big sting wounds on its nose. All swollen, painful, hurts just to look at it, needs to be treated.

I don't hate them as much as I did, but I still don't want one.

I'm the opposite, I actually disliked them more as I get older.

I also never understood why the C-stripe didn't continue into the doors....it appears like the door was repainted and the stripe end pieces weren't put back.     

For some strange reason, I always thought Plymouth (B-bodies) looked better than Dodges throughout the 60's and early 70's. Here's how I would rank B-bodies from 1963-1970 (excluding Charger of course)!

1963 - Plymouth
1964 - Plymouth
1965 - Plymouth
1966 - Plymouth
1967 - Dodge
1968 - Plymouth
1969 - Plymouth
1970 - Plymouth

Always liked the 70 Bees. The pissed off bee discription fits perfectly. I remember looking into the rear view mirror of my Chevy Tahoe and looking at my Bee as I was dragging it back to Iowa from New Mexico, thinking what a bad ass looking car I'd just bought.

I loved, and still love the 70 Bee style. Cool and different. Of all the cars I've owned I miss my 70 440/6 the most.
That was original paint but the front lower valance was replaced so it kinda throws the front end look off.  Sorry.  
I love that comment of it looking pissed off.

I've owned a couple of '70 Bees'.  

I like them much more than the R/T version.  I don't care for the fake scoop behind the doors (imagine that) & the tail panel.





As far as the new Charger.  These old iron forums are far from what the majority of folks think of them.  We won't be around 30-40 years from now anyways so it's a moot point for this group.

After a 68 Charger I'd be pretty keen to have a 70 Coronet parked up in the garage, always liked them, nothing else like that front treatment in Mopardom. My wife however is adamant they we will not be getting one of " them" anytime
