checking gauges ?

can anyone tell me how to check gauges such as fuel , alt. , temp. ,, i never have used a meter and just would like to know what to set one on and how to check to make sure they work before i install them in dash , could save me lots of trouble

easiest way is to take OHM meter and check across the terminals...should be about 21 OHM's I think?

That will tell you if the wire inside is good...as far as accuracy, that is another story
