I wonder if my car was stolen at one time in it's life

Kind of random, but I think that my car might have been stolen sometime before I owned it. Not that it really matters, but I thought it was kind of interesting. Maybe I'm just bored out of my mind and wish I knew some of my car's history, or maybe it's not that farfetched. What do you guys think?

First, this is the stamping on all glass in the car EXCEPT for the driver quarter window:

Here is the driver quarter glass, the stamping is different than the rest and looks newer, so I think it's a replacement:

Then, there's this damage to the inside trim behind the window in question. Looks like damage from something coming through the glass and making contact, plus it looks eerily similar to the damage my buddy's car received back in highschool when someone broke into his car by smashing the window:

Also, it looks like someone tried to pry the VIN off the dash but gave up pretty quickly:

And last, my ignition wiring from the old harness:

Thoughts? I've always wished I could know more about my cars history but haven't been able to get in touch with past owners or anything like that.

Sure has all the signs, is there any way to have the VIN checked to see if it has a theft history? :scratchchin:

Did you ever find out who did it?

HANDM

LOL. I found the exact same hack job at the ignition switch wires in my 69 Charger.
If you own(ed) one, then you know how to start it without hacking wires.

Pretty good detective work. Looks like it might be a good bet. Check the seat cushions for the loot!!

That's for sure, whoever did that was an idiot. Two minutes under the hood with some pliers or screwdriver & a 3' piece of wire, and he could have been off & running.

I'd say there's a good chance it may have been stolen at one point. Maybe just for a joy ride, since it probably wasn't stripped?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Well it's cool to know I'm not the only one that thinks so. Probably a good story in that somewhere. And yeah it must have been a joyride thing. That harness is scary right?! If only my car could talk. I tried Googling the VIN but nothing came up.

bull

Dig too deep though and you might end up having to give it back to a previous owner.

I had a 70 500 that was used in a bank robery and I parted it out, the vin I was told was on another car in a town close to here when I bought the car. I pulled my parts and made sure no one would have to deal with it in the future. I

Could be that some dumbass previous owner locked the keys in it and instead of picking the lock, or something, he simply rocked the window...

I can hear it now.."Wait, lemme get my "tool".....
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

I have thought about it but not very worried. The title I got was from '83.

So 15 years are unaccounted for... :o

bull

Well, I was doing the math this way:

1983
1968 -
15 (years of unknown title history)
