When you mean stuck in park, does the handle move out of park or is it physically stuck there?

There is a shift lock bypass mechanism (not sure where on those new chargers, (this sites mainly for 66-74 chargers but there are a few on here that own both) usually its near the handle somewhere on the console and requires you to remove a small cover and simply depress the button under the cover, this will disable to shift lock as its possible something is broken. Is your garage on a slope? Sometimes if you put it in park and the weight of the car is now resting on the park sprag, that could cause issues when trying to shift back out of park.

it moves maybe 1/2 an inch to the right but thats it. it doesnt slide down to the other gears. my car turns on everything seems fine it just doesnt want to shift out of park.
my car is inside the garage but i do have a slope on the driveway

If the garage is level or fairly level than what i wrote isnt an issue.

One of my mates was telling me just today that his Avenger had the same problem and that it is a recall problem.

did you step on the brake before moving the shifter?

Could be simple as no brake lights meaning a bad brake light switch
