Damned Economy! End of the Road (Race)

I got word that the economy, insurance requirements, and other issues has finally killed off USAS, my favorite Open Road Racing venue (and to which I was a lifetime member), so it looks like the run is over. It was a good one, so I have no complaints I guess   :-\

I've talked to a handful of other people here at DC.com interested in these event and you need to know that there is another problem in the Nevada races that is a cause for concern - the State is grinding rumble strips down the middle of all the two lane roads, including the race courses, and it looks like it may be a safety problem for the faster running cars. The future of all Open Road Racing may be limited in the name of keeping the drunks from falling asleep at the wheel.

Now what to do with a 72 Charger that will cruise at 140 all day long and is covered with decals that won't come off? I guess maybe I need to find a grocery store at the end of long freeway.

Upon review, I've decided to drink heavily and run the courses anyway on my own in order to take advantage of the NV State sponsored rumble strips. I would hate to see them not get their moneys worth.

As an alternative, One Lap sounds pretty interesting  :scratchchin:

Hmmmmmmm, drink heavily and race anyways, sounds like a I should take a road trip and meet up with you somewhere in NV I guess, hic-up.....ha ha...... I'm sure the cops could use a few new car tires and misc. items  :D
I myself got a ticket back in 1994 or so for 144 mph in a 55 zone in Eastern WA. Damn that was a blast, poor Sheriff didn't know what passed him, until I stopped 3 miles down the road waiting for him to bust me.
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Did you do any jail time for that one? What was the fine?

Damn man, that's bad news . . .

And with the "ecomony and all," you'd figure that Nevada would already be too broke to go around doing something as silly as putting rumble strips in all its roads.

Hopefully you can find something else in terms of a series in that vein.

I always liked the idea of road racing cars better than just straight line racing them, quarter mile at a time stuff - but I'm too broke for either.

Sounds like you had some fun at least while it lasted.

I spent about 6 hours in jail, my g/f at that time bailed me out, $350.00 bail, $1100.00 ticket for starters, total with charger being impounded for 4 months and court costs was just under 4 grand. I was racing a 66' vet. He tried to outrun cops but got nailed an hour later, idiot, haha. Funny part now is the cop that took me in, owned a 68' GTX he said, so actually, he was pretty cool and said, yep, those old mopars are fast and sort of cracked a smile.
