so i am picking up a set of heads for 600 bucks.  aluminum mopar 440 stage 6.  the valve seats still need to be cut (rough casting) and i need to buy everything like springs, keepers, retainers, valves etc.  so after all machine work and parts i need to buy to make the heads complete how much money do you guys think i am going to spend??  thanks in advance

All good parts could get into the $1000.00 mark QUICK, barring they don't need any machine work...

Valves Depending on size, could get upwards of $25.00/Valve...
Springs, another say $100.00
Retainers Say another $80.00 for GOOD ones.
10 degree Locks say another $25-$30.00
Rockers depending on roller, could get as high as $800.00w/shafts...

hmm how much do u think all of the machine work will be? to cut the valve openings, install seats, guides, etc.  im trying to decided if it is going to be cheaper to buy these heads and buy all the parts nad have all the work done or just to buy a set of eddys

Get the Eddy's...
:iagree:

Beyond the cost of the parts and labor, boring rough castings for valve guides is not something just any machine shop can do correctly. I would only give that job to somebody who has a lot of experience and a reputation for success with Mopar racing heads (Porter etc). Done right, it takes a long time to set the job up, and done wrong it is nearly impossible to make right after.

The Earlier MP heads had lots of QC issues. Casting porosity, oversized/unequal chamber volumes, severe valveheight inconsistency etc...

INMHO you will be dollars (and performance) ahead by purchasing a set of Eddy RPMs  ;)
