Dos Hemis in San Antonio, Texas in the 80s... Where are they now?

In the early 1980s I located several hundred neat Mopars in the eastern half of Texas, including a few dozen Hemi cars.  Two of these Hemis were located at the same address on the South Side of San Antonio.  A wrecked 1969 Hemi Charger R/T with a Wedge motor transplanted into it, and a complete 1970 Hemi Charger R/T.  I was told told that the wrecked '69 could be bought, but this was later nixed by the father who said they were going to "fix her up".  In the mid 1990s I was told the 1969 Hemi had been sold and flipped to a new owner "Up North", possibly Michigan.

The 1970 was not for sale, but was moved from the street-side location a few years later.  The wrecked 1969 Hemi was stored in the back yard...

Anyone recognize either of these Hemi Chargers?  Just wondering what became of them...

The 1969 Hemi Charger R/T...  I have a few more pics of the '69 that I cannot locate now.

Great minds must think alike Allen.  :smilielol:  I've also wondered over the years what happened to that 69 Hemi car. If I dig deep enough I'm sure somewhere around here I have those same pictures. If the father had not wanted to "fix her up" she probably would have been up here. I remember wondering at the time how bad that front end damage really was. I don't think I've seen the interior shot before though. Wood grain dash but no SE emblems and it looks a 1970 radio in there. SE trim on pedals also?? That was in the early eighties for sure. Like 80-81 some where in there. Prior to 1983 for sure.

Would you happen to know the names of the streets around that neighborhood?  I'm from the south-side of San Antonio and am just wondering where that would be at.  My two '69 RT/SE's are in that area, but hemi's they are not. :D

Dave, you are one of only a handful of friends that were shown these pictures back-in-the-day.  The car that you bought out of Austin was a far better builder, but this car would have passed the basketball test too...

There were a few more pictures taken that day, but I cannot locate them at the moment.

Not to change models, but I guess I'm about to.... What ever happened to that B5 Hemi Superbird? I remember running across it back in '88 sitting in the grass in the front yard of a house near Kelly AFB, San Antonio while cruising around looking for old Mopars (biggest find for me to this day).

The Multi-Carb Mecca of the South Side of San Antonio was at 5802 Wales... LONG GONE now, but you might want to take a metal detector.    Attached are a few pictures.

At it's peak in the early 1980s, Glenn had:

  • Blue (Silver then) 1969 Hemi Charger 500
  • Silver 1966 Hemi Charger
  • Blue 1970 440 `Cuda
  • Red 1970 Hemi `Cuda
  • Black 1970 Hemi `Cuda
  • Blue 1970 440 Six Pack Challenger R/T
  • Red 1970 Hemi Challenger R/T (N94 coded car)

As I said.. Glenn sold out completely in the early 1990s...  :D  :whistling:
