I was wondering if a cord of wood would fit in a 8ft truck bed? I'm trying to find some firewood for friend and see if I can get a full cord in my truck.

a cord is a pile of wood 4x4x10 if you stack it real tight it will fit it will be close t0 the cab roof.

oops my bad..... 4x4x8 I couldn't remember what it was and to lazy to look it up.. and I heat with wood.
life's to short have a blast before its gone.

depends on how high you want to go with it, i'm not sure about the weight but remember you only have an 8ft bed so it will have to be higher than 4 ft and you have to subtract for the wheel wells and lack of space next to them that a full peice of wood won't fit into

A cord is actually 4 x 4 x 8. It is possible to get it in a bed but it will have to be stacked tightly and way above the bed rail as mentioned already.

I have a flatbed Dodge that easily takes a cord by just tossing it in. The last load of walnut I hauled weighed 4300#'s.

Concur - 4 x 4 x 8 = 1 cord of wood.

Just picture a stack of wood on a sheet of plywood four foot high. After you fill in the corners of your truck bed it should only be like three foot high. Should have no problem.

I burn about 5 cords a year.  One thing I've learned over the years is not to trust a measured cord unless it is split and stacked tight.  I have bought cord wood unsplit in large rounds measured in a pickup bed and you can lose 25 to 30 percent of the volume after splitting and stacking.  Bob

alot cheaper at the saw mills. the one near my house sells 40.00 for as much as i can haul on my car trailer, cut to 20"-25" lengths. i put a 2x4 frame around the trailer, stand the wood around it and toss in the rest. dang i got alot to burn. :2thumbs: i know that has nothing to do with if your truck can hold a cord, but i was just side tracked and felt a need to type.  :shruggy:

Must be slabwood for that price. The price also varies by location and species with hardwoods being more valuable.

yea its trimmed off the edges. they have hard wood piles and pine etc.. piles. you can end up with alot of bark if you arent selective, but its all cut and stacked in large piles and you let yourself in load and put the cash in a drop box on the way out. all on the honor system. we take longer to load cuz we are a little more selective in what we take.
