Back N Black

Nice ride, but why is it a SEMA car? Don't look to special to me.  :Twocents:

RD

those guys on the forum are asking/bitching/complaining that it needs an interior.. what they dont know is that the lightweight 330's didnt have that stuff.. it was made to race.  i like the paint job as it references his hit "blue on black".  I just wish they would have typed on his board "mopar blue on black" instead of "black and mopar blue"

My guess....he is busy.

Some people that do not know Mopars might not be aware it is based off a striped drag platform, and compared to his other rides is plain.

I like it! :yesnod:

I can see their point, to a certain extent... I absolutely LOVE the 64 Dodge styling, and it looks like a great old school drag machine.... then, open up the hood to see a modern Hemi?? That car begs for an original 426 cross ram twin 4 barrel Hemi under the hood.... the new generation one just seems so out of place with the overall look of the car.

It's a SEMA car most likely because it was built to showcase some company's products. Seeing the part numbers listed for the new Hemi and related parts leads me to believe it's for Mopar. That's why it doesn't have an old style Hemi. I think it's supposed to look like an old school drag car but it's probably designed to run on the street (wheels, tires, rear end, etc. won't be good at the track). The Yellow Bullet forum is geared towards racers.

Beautiful 64 Dodge but a modern hemi really IS not the way to go

Did anyone else catch the fact that this car has catalytic converters and oxygen sensors?  Wow.

I've been wondering how long it was gonna be before someone tried mounting that stuff in a musclecar.  (Where did the cats even fit?  I assume it still has mufflers of some sort too, which eats up the only big bulged area under the floor . . . )

I wouldn't bother putting cats on my own cars but the trend might get the hobby some good P.R. if it takes hold.  Between that and the gen-III Hemi in the 63-65 bodystyle, the car is definitely different.

Khyron

if they made them afordable and didn't rob too much power I could see the advantages.

Well, it needs the O2 sensors for the EFI I'm sure. I'm actually surprised that more people (carb'd or not) don't install them for tuning purposes. Perhaps there is a reason for the cats too - say a CARB exemption number for the swap?

Isn't he on tour?  Or is that not happening yet?

KWS

Hey guys. Glad most of you dig the car. It's definitely been a love it or hate it car on the forums. I didn't mention it here because I've been incredibly busy and Mopar also wanted to keep the car a secret until it was unveiled at SEMA.

Here's some brief info about the car...

The idea for this car was conceived at last years SEMA show in a meeting that took place with me and some of the Mopar family. One year later the car is a reality. It's not 100% complete yet, but it's amazing how much work was accomplished in such a short amount of time in order to get it ready to debut at SEMA.

Gen III aluminum 426 HEMI, Mopar's first ever E-Rod motor. Dynoed around 650 hp at the flywheel from what I'm told, but once all the calibrating is done, it'll be a smog legal 500 + hp. We wanted to prove you can still haul ass in an old Mopar and be friendly to the environment at the same time. This motor and accessories should be offered through Mopar after they get all the calibrating finished up.

The color scheme is Blue on Black because of my song by the same name.

The theme of the car is a modern take on a factory built 64 drag car. It's meant to be ll purpose and no frills. Everything on the car is to help it be light and go fast. No A/C, stereo, power steering, interior, aluminum door panels, dash, etc.

The tires on the car are regular street BFG's, but I will have a set of drag radials for the rear, and/or some old school cheater slicks to swap out for hooking up, and to add some vintage flair.

The car can be driven on the street and the strip, and I will be doing both as much as possible.

Again, like I said, some people are loving it and some people are slamming it. It's to be expected. It happens with all my cars. That's one of the reasons this hobby is great. It's about self expression and passion for the cars. The only person I really need to please with my cars is me, although we all love to get positive comments from our fellow enthusiasts. I would say that 100% of the feedback I got from people at SEMA was great. Everyone loved the car there and it was the only one like it at the entire show.

RD

thanks for the update kenny... now... can you get them to change the display board so it says:  "mopar blue on black"  :D
