My '68 will be getting a roll cage made of 1.75 0.095 DOM and will have 2 bars coming off of the A pillar bars. They need to pass thru the firewall or cowl to get to tie into the front frame rails. Id like to see a few cars with cages in place so I know where to send the tubes thru. I will be running a 5.7 Hemi truck motor, Im not sure about what brake or steering setup just yet tho. The car will be getting the cage before that other stuff goes on. I am trying to imagine it with everything else in place so I can guess where a good spot would be. The car also will not have heat or a/c so I do not have to worry about that either

Really all depends on how serious you get with the cage in regards to where the uprights are, what sort of triangulation you put in place, location of dash bars, retention of stock components like the dash and wiper motor, how things tie in with the front stub, how you locate those extensions, if your running 1.75 tube through out everything, or whether you going with reduced diameter tubing in the extremeties.

Good points, thanks. I have to keep the wiper motor and all those components because the car will see rain. The dash however will not be going back in. I will be using a fiberglass one. Im thinking about the one VFN offers for a Challenger IIRC. I really like the looks of those dashs, not a huge fan of the Charger dash. I will stuff it with aftermarket gauges too. I plan on using the 1.75 for the whole thing that way I do not have to buy another $300 die for my tubing bender.

Another thing, I want a bar to come down and follow the A pillar. Actually I want it attached to it to increase rigidity of the chassis. It will then go down on the side before kicking in a little to connect to the front frame rail after a small piece of the floor is cut away(it will be an auto car so no worries about a clutch pedal). Then a dash bar can be ran high up under the dash. I want the two pieces going forward to attach at that same point and be popped thru the firewall somewhere, possibly in the wheel well area. Think the body stiffeners XV performance offers. I then want em to snake forward leaving tons of room for my huge front tires and then to provide a mount for front coilovers. Then front ends will then get welded to the rails just in front of the forward UCA bolts. I can then run another unboltable bar across the motor to tie everything in.

I can't get the picture to copy but check out  Cotton Owens #6 Daytona. Its probably more heavy duty than you would want but worth a look for bar placement. :shruggy:
