im putting in a 440 magnum in my 74 roadrunner with a 8 3/4 rearend with a 323 posi are thes good gears or should i find taller ones???

John_Kunkel

It's up to you, if you go to a numerically higher ratio you'll gain some performance but will be spinning faster on the freeway.

The factory seemed to think 3.23 was the optimal gear for the 440.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

yup, they work great on the Freeway, but SUCK for racing. my Bee came with a 8.75" sure-grip with the 3:23 gears. i'm swapping them out for some 3:56's or 3:73's.

Really Depends on what you want out of the car.....You gonna try and crush all the local Chebby's a Furds in a 1/4 mile drag?

Or,you gonna try to carve some canyons?
