Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

I can only tell you a little about this 500.  It was and still is as far I know owned by a guy named Ray, I'm tempted to say something like "Knight" for his last name, but the memory just isn't as good as it used to be.  He was good friends with a Mopar guy that moved out to Az. in about 1987 or so.  I became good friends with Ray's transplanted friend and I meet Ray a couple of times at later Mopar Nat's.  I have not spoken to our mutual friend for several years, so I don't know if Ray owns the car any more, but I remember he was starting a big restoration sometime in the mid '90s or so.  It was an original black car I believe. 440 auto.
On a side note, my first nat's was 1984.  If I can ever get back to some shows it would be fun to meet some of you other guys who have been doing this stuff as long as I have and compare old pictures. :yesnod:

I still have my photo album, Chris.  And I'm only 25 miles away!  You gonna be at the show at Bill Luke Chrylser in November?

Hi Bruce,
Do you know what date the Bill Luke show is?  I would like to make it and have been thinking of taking the 68 hemi car as not many people have ever seen it.

Wow! Nice photos, thanks for posting those.  Were your images scanned from negatives, old prints, or new prints?  Also, your camera was probably better than the Canon AE-1 that I used.  I may need to find my negatives and start over on some important pics, but negatives go bad too...

It's my wife's camera, a fully manual, 35mm Minolta that she still has. I scanned the prints & reduced the size to post them. I have the full sized images on a disc & could email them if you want, just let me know.

I know the gentleman who has the black 500. The car was at one time owned by Ric Lafollete (sp?) here in Indiana. He sold it and eventually wound up with the GTX that he still has today. The gentleman who has it now is doing a restoration on the car, and I run into him everytime I go over to the Mopar Nationals or Carlisle. very nice guy. The hood pins were added by Ric though and not factory.
