Calling all Strokers-What's your Cam/Vacuum?

I'm making the final approach to a cam for my 505" motor. Ron's suggestion of the Comp XS290S is most likely, pending some data from other sources. I've read the Proven Combos section, asked around, read lots of threads but there's one piece of info I don't have much on; What's your vacuum at idle? How does the car drive/carburate under 3500 RPM? Can you drive around town all day at 1500-2500 RPM without coughing, sneezing, farting, or fouling plugs?
The XS290S looks like it has a very smooth curve below 3500 but that's speculation on my part.

Keep in mind this is a touring motor, so needs to go down the highway at 55mph for hours, and probably stand in traffic some too. It  will us EFI which is an unknown for me, needs more vacuum than carburetor.

Will meassure how much I have, running a Engle K60 after Ron's advice and it seems very userfriendly and powerful at the same time.

14" vacuum at 950 rpm in neutral.  Idles nicely in gear at 700 rpm with stock converter.  It's in 3rd gear at 20 mph, and drives through the neighborhood at 1100 to 1200 rpm.

500" NA, Eddy head, pump gas, exhaust manifold with 2 1/2 exhaust with tailpipes
4150 lbs with driver, 3.23 gear, stock converter
11.68 @ 120.2 mph

What's your cam and compression?

Talking with some S. Fla. EFI guys, none of them are much concerned with vacuum-plenty of street cars running around on 500+ cu.in. and 5" of vacuum on injection...? :shruggy:

493 ci, Comp Cams XR286 hydraulic roller, vacuum is 17" at a nice slightly choppy idle of 850 rpm.

Hmmm.  Are you sure that your gauge is correct? 17" with a cam with 70 degrees overlap just does not seem right.

About 10.8.  Cam is a custom Dwyane Porter with Comp lobes, give him a call.  Give him all of the details and how you want it to idle and cruise and he'll set you up with the perfect cam.  If you're concerned with maintaining low speed/rpm drivability and high idle vacuum, I would suggest overlap in the low to mid 60's.

I use the XS290S camshaft, Performer RPM intake and Proform 950 carb. Idles at 950rpm with 10" vacuum and will cruise all day at 1500rpm.

I have about 7 lbs vacuum in gear, idle is about 1000-1050 in park,,,and about 850-900 in gear....

I recurved my distributor to bump my initial timing and get as much vacuum as i could,,,

496 stroker, solid cam (597/263) , compression is 10.7:1 E heads, pump gas,

Not sure how everybody is "measuring" their vacuum,,,,,, in park,,,in gear,,,,
