Have you got a spring in the bottom radiator hose.Did it just start running hot. What have you touched or changed under the hood. Some more info would be helpfull.

spring in both hoses, would a shroud help

Does it heat up while going down the highway, just in traffic or both?  Had a tune up lately?  Has timing or carb been adjusted?  Has it always run hot or is this a new problem?  Bob

shroud made a big diff on my 70' 383

Id say a shroud will help.....but also  i think a viscous fan would be better suited as well.    Timing issues will cause overheating results too

Use a 180 thermostat, then think about a viscous drive fan.  160 thermostat is too small.  Blow the radiator out with a garden hose from the inside towards the front.

Honestly the biggest problem I've found in these is a defective thermostat.  Even brand new ones don't work right (sometimes, thank china and Mexico!)

By viscous due you mean clutch fan? I would put a shroud and clutch fan on. I think 160 is too cool also and would go with 180.
