need help asap 71-74 b-body bench 4 speed

fot the guys that has converted or have a orignal   im converting over from a auto  and have ALL the bench 4 speed stuff
when i got the hump and cut out the floor  i didnt cut the torsion bar brace on the floor  now when mounting the shifter the longest finger of the shifter hits it  is it spossed to be trimed or cut out or?   also where the shifter handle bolts on is the nuts on the shifter   on the driver side or the passenger side ( i took it off over a year ago and dont remember wich way is front   and does the reverse rod go on the longest shifter finger or does 1-2 rod go on it?
