hey man i think i can help. Ive got a 73 charger and it does the same thing. on mine its the lower steering bar that connects the pitman arm to the tie rods and it pops and creaks when steering. Try greasing all your joints and see if that doesent help. If that dont work you might need to replace the bushings. Hope that helps you  :2thumbs:

Do you have a Sure-Grip rear?   If so your clutches might be sticking on low speed turns & "popping" when they release....or worst case (like in my situation) the spider gears in the unit are broken

I just recently went through the same thing....noise from what seemed like the front end....went crazy for a few weeks checking & rechecking the front end till I narrowed it down to the rear end.  The noise would resonate through the whole car.   I didn't even remotely think it was my Sure-Grip as I replaced it last fall & only put 200 miles on it.....took it out & discovered this.... :o

I'm with Chris as I thought the same thing when I first read the post.  After you grease the front end, buy a bottle of friction modifier from the local dodge dealer, remove the fill plug on the rears center section and put it in there.  :popcrn:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Mine would make a metallic noise when i shifted to reverse.....it was simply a motor mount
