A really GOOD and a really BAD exhaust

I just got my 1971 Super Bee back on the road with the new 383 Magnum.  It was noisy and didn't "feel" quite right, so I took it to Kirk Robinson at Kinney Muffler in Hurst Texas for years because this is a guy who knows how to do it right. You have no idea how much better the car runs with the new mufflers and pipes. Smoother, deeper yet not as harsh. And the H-Pipe which was NOT there before along with new brackets and hangers as well as quality welding makes the frame of the car more rigid.

These are before and after shots.  I couldn't believe how bad it was...

These are the "after" shots"

And one of the car...

You gotta love the H pipe. Simple and so effective. Nice pipes and really fine Charger.

No "H" pipe on the old exhaust? is that paint on the new exhaust? or HPC coating (on the pipes) Iron Chef, did you recently buy this Bee? it's just that there was one similar for sale not long ago (with the RT hood insert) nice Bee BTW

I feel your pain, had to have a second muffler shop completely replace the system, I had just had another
shop install two weeks before. The first shop thought what they had done was within ''Chrysler specs''   :icon_smile_angry:
I lost $800.00 on that BS shop.

Your system looks great now   :2thumbs:

Yep...just picked it up in February.  Quite happy with it too.  The mufflers (Flowmaster Super 44's) came painted black, so my exhaust guy painted the pipes from the back of the mufflers to the tips.

If your 'before' pictures are a 'bad' exhaust, you're going to get a shock when I post photos of the catastrophe I hammered together as a 21 year old in 1982... :smilielol:

Looks great........ I can only imagine how good she feels cruising down the road... It surprises me why MaMopar did away with the h-pipe design in '71..........

She drives great, but next week, she gets a front end rebuild using PST's pacakge.  All new bushings, shocks, thicker front sway bar and adding a rear sway bar.  Can't wait!!

With performance cars pretty much over by 71 and the H pipe likely costing them a little more I'm not surprised at all.
