Normally we should find a 741, 742, or 489 case under our Chargers if it's an 8 3/4.

My '68 R/T Charger looks to have a "1634983".

What the heck did that come out of?

That's a 57-67 casting. 1 3/8 pinion. Same size as a 741 casting.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Actually, there is no 1634983 but there is a 1634985 which is an earlier version of the 742 with a 1 3/4" pinion stem.

The earlier version of the 741 is 1820657.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Got a pic? I think you'll find on closer inspection that that 3 is actually a 5, the gaps in cast letters tend to close up on some castings.

I need to do some adjusting on the electric pump under there so when I do that I'll get a pic and a pencil rubbing. I'm pretty sure, but you never know.
