How much oil ???

Hello all,

I feel dumb even asking this......but... how much does a 383 with a 402 oil pan take? when I change my oil, I put back in 5qts, and it always seams like its overfull by 1qt on the stick. I can only assume that my 41 year oil dipstick is correct  :shruggy: I've searched all over the place, but I can't find the answer

Should be 5qts w/filter.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Ok thanks! Must be that my dipstick/tube is the wrong one....always wonderd why the tube is blue and the engine is orange!!
