My nephew has a Jeep Cherokee and is thinking about trading it for an Eagle Talon. I think the Talon is a 91 but I'm not sure. Anyway he wants me to go with him and take a look at this Talon. The guy told him that the car has been completely gone through and it has new paint.

Does anyone have any experiance with one of these? What should I look for?

I had a co worker with one, maintence things like timing belt are important & he was having transmission issues(automatic).

I had one, AWD turbo, as a winter car and I thought it was a great car.

Back in '91 I bought a brand new white AWD Turbo...handled great and had great power. Mine was a manual trans and I never had a problem with it. Timing belt and turbo seals might be the only thing that might really need replacing if it hasn't been "modded". Adding a intercooler (if it doesn't already have one) will help the turbo live longer and increase performance. Take pics I'd love to see it!  :2thumbs:

I bought one new back in 94 ish.  It was a 1991 AWD Turbo with a stick.  It was a nice car, great through the snow.  Did not have any problems with the car.  But now those cars have had nearly 20 years to be beat on by kids.  May not be as nice as mine was.

Thanks for all the info. It's not AWD and not turbo. The timing belt was just replaced. We're going to go check it out tomorrow and see how it runs, but I hate to see him trade a 96 Cherokee straight up for a 91 Talon.

This has been my experience with them. and lots around (my area) anyway. Most rotted away years ago, but we use tons of salt here!

If you know what your doing the engine and trans are solid, mine had 155k and still ran like a bat out of hell. *90 AWD Turbo*

Better to find a 91 or 92, better manual trans. But who would drive 1 with a Auto anyways.  :image_294343:
